An Unforgettable Journey to India 2015

In this post, I am going to take this opportunity to blog about my experiences and journey in India 2015. I tried to search for more information about Malaysian travelling to India few months back and to my surprise it is very hard for me to find any blog entry or post about India on the net. Hence, I made a promise to myself that I am going to blog about it once I am back to my nation, Malaysia.

It's really fortunate that I am able to flew to India this year to participate in AIESEC Global Citizen Programme. I flew to New Delhi, India on the 12th July 2015 via Malaysia Airlines. The flight to Delhi from Kuala Lumpur International Airport takes about 5 hour and 30 minutes. Basically I slept all the time in the flight as it's a morning flight and I did not manage to get a a lot of rest on the night before. As soon as I landed at Delhi airport, I gotten myself a sim card at the airport. It is very sad that they charge a lot for the foreigner >.< I have to pay about 2200 Rupees (~ to 33 USD) for a local sim card with 2 GB of internet data. I insisted to get a local sim card to ease my communication purpose in India and instant internet access in India. I went out from airport and I am happy to meet another of my friend from Brazil Luísa Fancelli.  She is one of the wonderful friend and partner that I made throughout my journey in India. We took a taxi from the airport to our accommodation in Kishangarh. I had a culture shock on the way to the accommodation looking at the street. I am surprised that Indian drove without following the rules and there is a honking culture all the time on the street. I could not get use to it at first but after that it seems pretty normal to me (although I still find it annoying some time). The honking culture does not apply in Delhi. It is pretty much the same everywhere around India to see this honking culture and you just have to get use to it.

Throughout this journey, I made a lot of new friends from different country, regions and parts of the world. Throughout this journey, I met amazing people from Egypt, Brazil, Mainland of China, Taiwan, Portugal, Mexico, Vietnam, Indonesia, Latvia, Pakistan and many more. I feel amazed that all of us can interact with each another although there is a huge gap of cultural difference. Arguments and conflicts happen sometimes but I believe all of this can be resolve as long we understand each another.

Throughout this summer, I had chosen to work in a local NGO called CanKids KidsCan. CanKids KidsCan is a registered charitable National Society working to make a change for Childhood Cancer in India. It aims to identify and bridge the gaps to ensure best treatment, care and support to children with cancer, provide economic support to children who are lack of money, provide emotional and psychological support from diagnosis, and giving informal education to keep children in the habit of learning.

In a team of 4-5 people, we carried out the annual summer camp at the NGO. The summer camp was successful despite facing numerous challenges as the kids need to be at the hospital for treatment according to their schedule. However, this does not stop us from proceeding with the summer camp with the rest of the children who are in the shelter house or NGO.

The activities carried out during the summer camp at CanKids were :
1) Craft activities with the children
- We made decoration items such as fishes, birds, fans and decoration items from recycled materials. These items are now been used as decoration in CanKids Shelter House (Home Away From Home)

2) Games activities with the children at the shelter house and hospital while waiting for treatment.

3) Sandwich Day.

4) Fundraising by making Diwali cards for charity purposes in CanKids.

5) Outing at Deer Park by playing some outdoor games and simple exercises.

6) An educational visit with the children to The National Railway Museum.

7) Dessert day. We made one famous Brazilian Sweet named Brigadeiro.

8) Poem day.

9) English learning activities.

10) Fund Raising - Fund raising was done among the project mates. We wanted to donate some of the educational toys & books to the children the shelter house before the project ends.

(The books & toys purchased for the shelter house!)

(Me and the rest of the team mates who are volunteering in CanKids as well)

Throughout this summer camp, my biggest key learning is I learned to be more responsible. Me and my team have to discuss everyday during the weekday to come out with a proper planning on what activities to be carry out so that it will not a mess by the day.
I also learned to be more independent while volunteering in CanKids as we have to travel on our own by public transport and not relying on others. I am also more appreciative to people around me.

I learned the values of community service and the social impact created during the summer camp. Although the kids are diagnosed with cancer, the kids and their parents are strong and does not gives up in their life. I will continue to join volunteering program in the near future again.

Besides doing the work, I also took some day off to explore some beautiful places in India such as Manali, Agra and Varanasi and the main tourist attraction in Delhi~ We mainly went travelling during the weekend which project is not carried out at that time.

(Me and my team mates at Manali)
(It's really nice to be able to travel to Varanasi and witness the Ganges River in front of you, Definitely worth going while you are in India!)

(Me and the rest of the exchange participants at Taj Mahal, Agra one of the 7 wonders of the world~)

It's really worthwhile to visit India at least once in your life and I am sure you will not regret it. There might be a huge culture shock when you visit India but this experience is definitely worth trying for! I did not regret to visit India this year and it had been the best memory for me so far. If you have the chance, take a brave step to go out from your comfort zone and experience the journey that you will not regret in your life! All the best :)

I managed to create a short summary of my journey in India. You can have a look at it~ :)

Prom Night 2015

I am experiencing a very hectic and busy week for the past few weeks.
Community pharmacy placement, hospital placement, AIESEC Global Citizen Program recruitment, OCR, revisions, exams, elections, BFI modules and now the preparation for the upcoming PharmNotts Prom Night 2015 which will be held on the 11 April 2015 at Impiana Hotel KLCC.
We are carrying out the fundraising at the moment and hopefully everything will be smooth in the end. A lot of challenges and obstacles happen during the process - securing the venue for the prom, food budget, transportation, performances, emcees. I feel really happy that I still have my beloved organising committee team with me to carry out all the important task.
Lets make this happen and all the best everyone!
Will be uploading the outcome of the prom night soon.
PS: Earth Hour is coming soon! Please do remember to support the Earth hour and conserve energy more ! This is our beloved earth.
Lots of love,
Peggy xoxo.

Random Updates in 2015 + AIESEC MyLDS 2015

Times flies so fast. With a blink of eye it's already the second month of the year. I have been attending class for about a week now and it's already pack with lab reports, events, upcoming test right after Chinese New Year break, and club activities. I always wish I have more time hahahahahahaha....
I did not go out and purchase any new year clothes this year. Am just going to wear back some of the clothing that I bought few years back. I still have some new clothes that had not been wore even once.
I am planning my upcoming summer break now. I want to have a meaningful summer this year. And of course, I want to join AIESEC Global Citizen Program to complete part of my AIESEC journey. I must join this program in order to understand what does AIESEC hope to deliver to the youth out there. This is part of my wish to understand the world more too.
I will not be able to spend new year holiday with my brother this year since he's still in UK right now.
Besides AIESEC Global Citizen Program, I also want to plan the rest of my summer break. I want to go for a month placement to increase my experience in Pharmacy field. I will try my best to secure at least one month summer placement. I also plan to go to the States for about 2-3 weeks to explore the other side of the world. Let's see how is everything goes on for now.
I also wish to purchase a new laptop. My old PC spoiled :( It's been 5 years old. I still find it usable but the motherboard spoiled and it simply require at least RM 600 to repair it. I will try to send it to other shop to replace the motherboard or wait for a more suitable time to purchase a new laptop.
Everything is about MONEY. I need MORE MONEY. If I have more time, I do really want to get a part time job :(
Please do help me hahahahaha...

Just to update here, I had completed my first facilitating experience in AIESEC MYLDS 2015 as Facilitator for EP Track. It is indeed challenging at the same time rewarding since I gained so much experience and knowledge from the delegates, chair and the rest of the facilitators. It is really nice to share knowledge and opinions with other people. I am glad to be part of the team. It's really nice to be able to my weakness and leverage on my strength more now. Thank you my team for everything (you know who you are). I will remember everything that we had shared during the conference! :)

I also get to learned a lot of new people. It is really nice to see how people changed to continue developing themselves. It's just simply amazing.

The 2 picture above is the official photo that we took from the conference. Thank you for this great and amazing experience :)

(My F1 Team members - Kristy, Elwin, Rami, Anngie, Szyuin and Alaa (the chair), unfortunately he is not in this picture hahahaha :D *** I shall crop his picture inside someday***

I think's for now. I am going to sleep soon!

Good Night. Lots of love XOXO.
World Peace.

End of 2014....

Wow, today is already the last day of 2014
It's the time for reflection on what I had been doing for the past year.
Well I begin my year with study break and then final examination.
And then I attended Malaysia Local Leadership Seminar (MyLDS 2014) in as a Junior delegate. The conference was held in University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur for 6 days 5 nights. Time really past by fast as I am now a senior member in AIESEC.
I have resolution in AIESEC that I want to complete before going to UK to pursue my studies.

1) Be a Facilitator! (Will try again in the next conference that I can make it!)

2) Run for LCVP
3) Go for Exchange

I am glad to be part of MyLDS 2015 as a facilitator (both session and home group facilitator). It's kinda challenging to me because everyone in my team is very experienced. However, I am really looking forward to learn from them. I hope this conference is going to be a good want. Cheers Peggy and the team!

Besides AIESEC, my personal life has been going quite well now. I am glad to have him with me all the time despite all the problems that I am facing and my current situation. I hope that we will be together for a long time. I love you babe. Wishing you all the best for your work and future. Let's pray for the best and have an awesome journey together. . Haha. Time really flies really fast. I still remember how we get to know each other and how everything just started. Life is not easy for you and me. Just have to go through it and support each other when we need help from each other. Your presence in my life definitely made me a better person :)

As for my studies, I am really stressed up sometimes. What matter the most to me is how to balance my life between my social life and studies. I do not want to spend all my time in studies all alone. I realized this long time ago that studies is not everything and I need to have my own life. I just need to. I am having super micro time management. I need to improve in my time management skills.

I will be organizing the PROM NIGHT 2015 for the seniors together with my future team before they are leaving to UK for their studies next year. It's definitely going to be a challenging and yet fun want! All the best Peggy.

Next, I also want to start saving some money to travel in the future. I have a very limited time to travel since most of my holidays are during the summer which is extremely hot. I don't have the mood to travel during summer ._.

However, that's the only time where I can travel abroad. I need to plan for my next Journey.

And now with the sad incidents. It has been a really sad year for Malaysia with three plane incidents - MH 370 , MH 17 and also QZ8501. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of MH 370, MH 17 and QZ8501. It's pain even for us outsider to see this. I do not blame any party for this. Besides that, Malaysia is also experiencing the worst flood in the past 40 years where it had affected about 100, 000 residents in East Coast Malaysia. This is something we have to take in consideration on how to prevent the flood in the future. I pray for them too.

I hope that the year 2015 is going to be a better want. I will spend more time with my families and friends in 2015. I wish to be a better person that I am now. I want to leverage on my strengths more and fix my weakness. I wish everyone is always healthy and last but not least World Peace.

Lots of Love from Peggy Chai.
